This season's preparation was far from ideal for Team Lampre. The management messed up the paperwork for their ProTour license. Finally a compromise was reached enabling the team to participate in the ProTour, provided everything will be settled according to UCI regulations

In matters of sports the team has lost former world champion Alessandro Ballan and time-trialist Marzio Bruseghin. Luckily Lampre can still look toward Damiano Cunego for the classics. And new recruit Alessandro Petacchi can try to win more stages in the big tours, if his age is not going to be a spoilsport that is.
